Supervisor Mack Welcomes Union’s Recognition as a Leading Retirement Destination

TOWN OF UNION, N.Y. Town of Union Supervisor Robert Mack welcomed Union’s inclusion among Travel + Leisure’s 10 best retirement destinations in the Northeast for 2025, based in part on Investopedia data.
The selection considered county-level affordability, health care access, airport access and recreation, along with editorial analysis—not local tax rates alone.

The recognition underscores Town of Union Supervisor Robert Mack’s focus on expanding housing choices and improving essential infrastructure. Mack said that ensuring residents can find housing suited to different stages of life, including retirement—while remaining connected to family and community is a priority.

Mack said the town has committed more than $20 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to infrastructure improvements, including pumping stations, roads, paving and gutter work that will be completed by the end of the year.

Completing infrastructure improvements and advancing housing projects are central to Mack’s approach to growth, which supports both newcomers and longtime Union residents. “Under my leadership, the Town of Union has earned national recognition as a destination,” Mack said. “Keeping this area affordable for seniors is a top priority, but every resident matters. I will continue turning these commitments into sustainable action so no one is left behind.”
